This is expected to people’s repudiating needs; this makes the assignment of cooking for every individual group†s needs, which is hopeless. Along these lines, the board must look into the most critical gathering, the general population; this incorporates the ramifications of the other serious issues. Execution the board and survey can be a guide to this undertaking, by dissecting the different alternatives and arrangements and settling on the best strategy. Every one of the three principle issues might be isolated into a rundown containing different sub issues, which make the general issues. Every one of these issues must be tackled by organizing arranged by significance, so as to deliver the best answer for the undertaking. Execution the executives has been characterized as â€Å"a vital and coordinated way to deal with conveying supported accomplishment to associations by improving the presentation of the individuals who work in them and by building up the capacities of groups and individual benefactors: (Armstrong and Baron 1998). Another definition anyway is that presentation the board is the orderly structure, assortment, examination and survey of data. So as to oversee there is a need to set up and evaluate what might be overseen and how. For the capacity to utilize execution the executives inside the task, it should be divided into different areas that can be estimated over the term of the venture. To empower estimations of the exhibition, the undertaking should be partitioned into different segments known as achievements. To accomplish the different achievements, the chief should make an activity plan. This is a breakdown of what, where and when different exercises will happen. There are numerous issues related with open segment execution the board. A portion of these issues are as per the following: There are insufficient focuses to accomplish. There will in general be an excessive number of markers. There is a dormant revealing style, anyway the detailing frameworks will in general be free. On account of this task for the nearby gathering there should be a progression of goals, these must range from corporate to singular targets. The corporate targets for the nearby board might be as per the following: 1. To configuration, assemble and delicate for the middle inside the spending plan designated and inside whenever outline apportioned by the capital supplier. 2. To distribute suitable assets from the nearby position financial plan to empower the undertaking for the inside to continue. 3. To increment, rebuild or redirect the income financial plans of the nearby power to oblige the running of the middle. The instances of the targets above are wide in setting. This is intentionally to empower any progressions through income and designations of assets to the inside to be suited for inside the targets. There might be policy centered issues required inside the improvement of acquiring these major corporate targets. These may incorporate the raising of duty, the proposed focus coordinating the running expenses or potentially the assignment of assets from other nearby position offices. These destinations are not as barely characterized as those from the private division or in the event that it were a PFI (Private Finance Initiative) venture, this is because of the need to protect that all partners might be mulled over. Despite the fact that these targets are corporate, they normally are allotted to a person to supervise. This technique inside the open area could cause issues inside the board; these issues are because of the chance of need to feel superior. Inside the nearby position, there are different goals which must be fulfilled, these connection and are associated with the corporate destinations. A model might be that the Arts and Leisure Director needs to set out his destinations for accomplishing the plan and building necessities. Model †Objective Carry out the Tender system inside a half year: †Action or achievement Action Deadline A. Select Consultant By End of Month 1 B. Affirm Budget By Start of Month 2 C. Conclude Design By End of Month 2 D. Send spending particular By Start of Month 3 E. Assess Tenders By End of Month 4 F. Select Contract By End of Month 5 G. Complete Contract By End of Month 6 The Milestones are time related, they can be estimated and if slippage happens, move can be made to bring the arrangement back on time or dealings can occur to endorse an augmentation. Another model might be that of the Director of Finance or the treasurer’s objective, for example, the accompanying: 1. Reallocate incomes for the proposed Leisure and Arts community for the main year of opening. 3. Moon over Manifest the Ideology of Home free essay sample

Who might set out figure the pariah and surrendered can locate a home? Who could dream that one can cherish without being squashed under its heaviness? A wonder fix to mend the wiped out? Pah. What makes us think any about this could be valid? But then we all, we take part in this legend, we make, sustain it (Vanderpool 304). Miss Sadie discusses the quest for a home to Abilene Tucker, the 12-year-old hero in the 2011 Newbery Medal victor, Moon over Manifest (Vanderpool 207). Abilene doesn’t have a home and never has. Motherless, she is sent by her dad, Gideon, to live with his old companion in Manifest, Kansas. Abilene has spent her youth venturing to every part of the nation with her dad, searching for work during the Great Depression in America. Show holds the guarantee of a sort of home, as it is where a large portion of Gideon’s stories happen. We will compose a custom article test on Moon over Manifest: the Ideology of Home or on the other hand any comparative subject explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page In any case, Gideon is missing in the narratives she hears in Manifest. Abilene and her dad are the outsider and the surrendered. The guarantee of Manifest is a legend, grim and exhausted, all things considered, dissimilar to the energizing spot in Gideon’s stories. But then, as Miss Sadie says, everybody trusts that this legendary home will by one way or another be genuine. It is evident that the fantasy of home is the thing that recognizes children’s writing from grown-up books (Wolf 18). Nodelman and Reimer compose that while â€Å"the home/away/home example is the most widely recognized story line in children’s writing, grown-up fiction that manages youngsters who venture out from home for the most part finishes with the kid deciding to remain away† (197). An example watched, called a postmodern metaplot, begins with the kid being surrendered, instead of venturing out from home. At last, the child’s venture closes with a cutting edge perfect of the youngster driving the grown-ups to a confident closure, a home. I will investigate the changing jobs of youth and adulthood in children’s writing, while at the same time concentrating on Moon Over Manifest. The fantasy of home in children’s writing along these lines reflects grown-up developments of youth. The accentuation on a bombed home was an unforeseen, yet sensible, result of the examination of the novel. Subsequent to examining the belief system of youth it’s clear that there’s a move from home as a spot to come back to home as absent or fizzled was given. For this situation Moon over Manifest is a model of the move to a postmodern adolescence in children’s writing. Bates takes a gander at two diverse ordinary plots found in fantasies and great children’s writing (89). The plot of the fantasy is the youngster hero isolated or deserted by the â€Å"evil† parent. The youngster at that point must clear their path through a dangerous world, confronting a wide range of threat, so as to get back. Back home the kid hero remunerates the great parent and rebuffs the malevolent parent. A case of this excursion can be found in Hansel and Gretel. The kids are relinquished in the woods by their tricked father at the command of their insidious stepmother. They fight the unfeeling witch, eventually slaughtering her and taking her cash. They get back to compensate their dad, the great parent, by imparting their riches to him. In certain adaptations, the malevolent parent has just been rebuffed with death by starvation. The other run of the mill plot, the one of exemplary children’s writing, includes youngsters venturing out from home all alone or by enchantment. Like the youngsters in fantasies, these kids likewise should confront risk on their way home. When home there is no prize or discipline for the guardians as the partition was not the parents’ issue. One case of this plot can be found in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Carroll 64). Alice ventures out from home â€Å"as her very own roundabout consequence action† (Bates 49). In Wonderland Alice has undertakings and getaways threat. She â€Å"goes home† by awakening. Home isn't just the setting of most children’s writing yet in addition the subject. The famous â€Å"happy ending† is when home is accomplished. Perusers and nonreaders of children’s writing anticipate this closure. It bodes well. As Miss Sadie stated, â€Å"And yet we all, we take an interest in this legend, we make, sustain it. † Miss Sadie closes her story remarking on the fantasy of home, â€Å"But what is worseâ€we trust it. Furthermore, at long last, we are squashed by it† (304). She is addressing Abilene and the accepted youngster peruser as she would address a grown-up. Youngsters shouldn't be conscious of the mystery of the human condition that you can’t return home once more. Maybe she is offering the peruser a mirror or a closet to experience yet on the opposite side isn’t Wonderland or Narnia yet distinct reality. Children’s writings mirror a specific philosophy, an arrangement of convictions about youth that is partaken in a culture and permits individuals inside that culture to comprehend adolescence (McCallum and Stephens 384). The customary or present day metaplot of home/away/home includes a pioneer belief system, one in which desires for kids and youth are normalized (Coats 21). The postmodern metaplot, which is featured in Moon over Manifest, imitates a unique sort of adolescence, an intricate one, wherein home is a spot the youngster must develop. Moon over Manifest is an opportune and away from of the postmodern metaplot. Abilene has no home to leave. While Gideon’s love gives a sort of security, he sends her alone on a train to Manifest to live among outsiders legitimately after she recoups from a genuine disease, flagging that he can no longer give the safe house of affection. Abilene is given no guarantees of help either. The way that Gideon sends Abilene with a compass that doesn’t work; implies it is as though he is advising her through this blessing she is presently to make her own particular manner throughout everyday life. Abilene shows up in Manifest with no thought of when he will want her. Once there, Abilene must, through her mind and perseverance, find who her dad was and is. With the assistance of story she builds her own history. This history permits her to make a home for herself, one which she welcomes her dad to join. At last, Abilene gives the home. She should make her own security and give her dad back his home. Abilene’s adolescence is not exactly perfect and not an object of grown-up wistfulness. When gotten some information about her missing guardians she says that her mom has â€Å"gone to that sweet by and by† in light of the fact that in her brain, her mom â€Å"decided being a spouse and mother wasn’t all it was laughed uncontrollably to be† thus joined a move troupe in New Orleans (27). Knowing the desire that the main time a mother leaves her child is through death; Abilene comprehends her flight in an objective way by demonstrating a comprehension of the decisions her mom made. Left with her dad, Abilene positions herself as his equivalent by reliably alluding to him by his first name, Gideon. â€Å"It resembled Gideon had gotten an injury in him as well. Just he didn’t come out of it. What's more, it was difficult enough to cause him to send me away† (75). Abilene acknowledges her parent’s disappointments to furnish her with a home. A postmodern metaplot gives an alternate perspective on writing and adolescence.

The November Rule

The November Rule While Mens et Manus may be our decree when heard outside the schoolhere its parete legi novembri OBEY THE NOVEMBER RULE Hack Punt Tool Its November 1st. Hopefully all the seniors in high school reading this post submitted their early application yesterday, and are already dying to check that fateful webpage sometime in the middle of December. Here at MIT, the date is significant for a different reason its the day that the November Rule technically expires. What is the November Rule? Its the unspoken rule we have on campus that freshman-upperclassman relationships are strictly forbidden until November 1st. While this mostly applies to upperclassmen as a warning not to mack on the frosh, Newtons Third Law dictates that it applies to the frosh as well. An important note: the rule does not apply to freshman-freshman relationships, but Ill give my opinion on that later. Why is this a thing? The Tech has their take, and I agree with pretty much everything in this article, but Ill say my spiel anyways. Freshman fall is kind of a shitshow. In the course of a few weeks, you have to learn how to deal with classes (which are suddenly very difficult and nothing at all like that easy shit in high school), how to balance extracurriculars, studying, and life, and make at least one good group of friends. This is not easy. Peoples experiences with freshman fall lie on the scale of it was a little rough to adjust to to it was a nuclear disaster, and anybody not on that scale is lying. In the midst of this shitshow, the last thing you need to be doing is getting into a relationship of any sort. Your self-esteem is already being tested the classes are hard and suddenly youre getting Bs and Cs and even failing tests, and you feel like youre stupid and you dont belong here. The last thing you need is to get into a relationship and go through a bad breakup and feel even shittier. You might not even know that its possible to feel even shittier, but it is. Plus, no matter what type of relationship you have on the spectrum from just hooking up to full blown monogamy itll take up a non-trivial amount of your time, and possibly occupy a non-trivial amount of your emotional capacity, neither of which are in great abundance during freshman fall. Granted, youll probably have more free time during freshman fall than in any other semester, but the importance of managing your time well cannot be understated, and freshman fall is the time to learn how to do that. It is not the time to be worrying if somebody wants to hook up with you or not. That can come when you have your shit marginally figured out. As an associate advisor for freshmen, one of the biggest reasons that most of us give re. holding off on relationships during the first few months at MIT is the harm it could inflict on other budding social groups. Say you get into a relationship, and as is common in relationships, you spend a lot of time together and neglect other social groups that you might be forming. Now say that you break up, and  suddenly find that you dont have a group of friends, and most friend groups have already stabilized and its hard to work your way in. This is obviously a fairly bad scenario, and if youre reasonable about relationships, then this wont happen. But most of us here have seen it happen, and thats why we always give this example as fair warning. Notice that I didnt specifically call out freshman-upperclassman relationships. Im calling out all relationships, including freshman-freshman ones, because I think what I said above holds true in both cases. But the November Rule specifically targets freshman-upperclassman relationships, and thats because of the power dynamic. There are a lot of opinions on whether there actually is a power dynamic between upperclassmen and freshmen. I saw a recent MIT Confession that argued that there isnt really, since most of the power upperclassmen have is from being experienced and wise denizens of MIT, when in reality most upperclassmen arent, or at least dont feel that way. I personally believe that this is untrue. I can attest to the fact that I definitely dont  feel  like I have any idea of whats going on at MIT, but the fact is that I do. Ive had an entire year here. Whether I realize it or not, I now know a lot of things that I definitely didnt know freshman fall. Some examples: Starting a pset the night before its due will not end well Though it might have worked in high school, staying up late every day fooling around and sleeping 4 hours a night is not a sustainable lifestyle Doing All The Extracurriculars That Seem Cool is also unsustainable you have to eventually pick and choose Failing a test is okay and is not the end of the world (I remember getting a fifth week flag in 5.111 and feeling like my world was in fact ending but this is okay, I passed and lived to tell the tale) I strongly believe that my duty as an upperclassman is to help freshmen work through all these issues and realize where their boundaries are. Once they can stand on their own feet, the power dynamic is significantly diminished. But the time it takes for that to happen is set at a bare minimum of two months. That being said, there are some (creepy) upperclassmen who declare open season on the frosh starting today. I dont think that the turn of the month means that all the frosh are suddenly mature MIT students who know how to balance their time and relationships, hence the creepiness. In turn, its not that great for the frosh to suddenly start macking on all the upperclassmen theyve been crushing on. Today just signifies that a social convention has now become marginally less unacceptable. That doesnt make getting into relationships left and right starting today the best idea. There are a lot of people whose opinion on the November Rule goes something alone the lines of hang the rules, theyre more like guidelines anyways. That may be true, but I believe its a guideline with good intentions that people should follow. According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, more than 50% of college assaults happen in the first six weeks of the fall semester. I like to think that putting a social stigma on freshman-upperclassman relationships does something to alleviate that statistic. On a lighter note: the quote I put at the top of this post is actually a line from a song from  Hack Punt Tool, an MIT original musical! This musical is about a lot of important elements of MIT culture, and one of the subplots is about the relationship between a freshman and an upperclassman. 01 They do eventually get together after going through many grueling experiences together and coming out on the other side okay - and after November, of course! (spoilers in the footnote, dont read it if youre actually going to watch it!) Obviously there has to be a song about obeying the November Rule, and it is a real bop if I do say so myself. Ive linked the entire musical below give it a watch! If youre only interested in the song, it starts around 33:45. The video doesnt have proper captions yet (were working on it), but you can find the full script here in the interim! Post Tagged #freshman fall #hack punt tool #november rule #relationships They do eventually get together after going through many grueling experiences together and coming out on the other side okay - and after November, of course! back to text ?

Rebuilding Relationships in Fences - Literature Essay Samples

In the play Fences, by August Wilson, a fence represents protection and incomplete or broken relationships. Through the fence, Wilson is trying to show that even things that were once perfect and have gone awry can still be rebuilt. One way Wilson uses the fence is to represent protection and love. A fence usually keeps things in that people want and separates it from the things that they don’t want. A fence also is a separation between two or more objects or events. In the beginning of the play, the fence is broken which represents that the family has problems with their relationship to each other. Troy and Cory have different points of view. Cory wants to play football and in order for him to play at his school, he decides to stop working everyday and only work on the weekends. Troy does not agree and says that Cory is â€Å"a bigger fool† than he thought and that he needs to get his job back at the AP (36). If Cory can’t both work and play football, he is told that he will have to quit the football team. Troy said this to Cory because he does not want Cory to become a garbage man like he is or become unemployed. Troy uses the word â€Å"fool† because he tried to do the same thing w hen he was young. Troy is trying to help Cory understand that he doesn’t want him to live the same way he had to. He does this for Cory’s own good, but Cory does not realize this. Cory feels that his father is just trying to ruin his life and not let him have fun. This relates to the fence because even though Troy wants to fix the fence and keep it in good shape, it will always become broken again. This means that even though Troy may want something to happen a certain way, it may not always happen that way. At this time in the play, the fence is bent and broken just like Troy and Cory’s relationship. Wilson also uses the fence to represent incomplete relationships. Troy has been cheating on Rose and causes their relationship to become incomplete. During this time, the fence is broken and bent just like their relationship. Troy has been ignoring Rose and he doesn’t tell her that he was seeing someone else until he made the other person pregnant. Overall, Troy has been causing his relationship with Rose to bend and break. Rose feels that the only real person who cares and would â€Å"be a fence around† her every day is Jesus (21). She feels that because Troy isn’t being good to her, that the only person who can be a barrier to all the bad things is Jesus. Troy’s relationship with Cory is also broken because he is also ignoring Cory and not being there when he needs him. Not only does the fence represent broken relationships, but it also represents the regrowth of relationships. Rose and Troy have a broken relationship because Troy cheated on her and had a baby with someone else. When Troy cheats on Rose, he tries to hide it from her, but when he finds out he is having a baby with the other person, he tells her. Rose, however, does not divorce Troy because if she did, most likely she would be living on the streets. She would be living on the streets because she would not have anybody to support her and she would have no income. Also, she believes that if she hadn’t married Troy, she could have been in an abusive relationship. Rose says that she has known people who have married someone who is abusive and even though Troy isn’t the best husband, she realizes that he is also not the worst. When the baby, Raynell, is born, her mother dies in labor. Troy then asks Rose if she would raise the child with him. When Rose accepts, she tells Troy , â€Å"This child got a mother. But you a womanless man† (79). This means that she is not going to forgive Troy anymore and she will start to hold things against him. It also means that she is going to always forgive and take care of Raynell. Troy fixes the fence when Raynell was born. Raynell brought Rose peace. Raynell made Rose feel like a person and that she was loved. It also helped her have the feelings that she never had with Troy. When Raynell was looking at her garden, she wondered why it hadn’t grown yet. Rose tells her that she needs to wait and have patience, but that she knows it will grow eventually. Rose, herself, had to be patient with Troy in order to grow. Rose was like a seed, and Troy was like the sun. A little bit of sun helps a seed grow, but with no water and/or too much sunlight, the seed will not grow. When Raynell was born, she was like the rain to a flower; without water, a plant cannot grow. Raynell helped Rose grow and caused Troy to stop criticizing and stopping Rose from doing things. This was when the fence was complete. Because Raynell was born, Rose had someone who she could talk to and who would truly listen to her. This represents the fence because in the beginning, relationships were broken and Rose felt as if she was just â€Å"there† and had no true purpose, but when Raynell was born, Rose was able to talk and realize that she did have a purpose. Overall, the fence represented growth, destruction, and regrowth. When the fence was broken and bent, the relationships were broken and bent. The relationships also were not complete. However, when the fence was complete, the relationships were peaceful, complete, and they brought out the best in people. In the end, Wilson is successful in reminding the audience that even things that were once perfect and have gone awry can still be rebuilt.

Understanding Different Approaches Of Health Education

Understanding Different approaches of Health education In this report I am going to explain three different Approaches that can be used to promote Health Education these three approaches are The role of Mass media, Social marketing and The Community development approach I am also going to explain information about what the approaches are and what the benefits and limitations of each approach is.

Summary of Literature Review on Dividends - 2145 Words

Assignment 1 Examined topic or field of the literature review article The article is called Dividend policy: A review of Theories and Empirical Evidence. In this article, the main theories on dividend policy are described and their credibility is evaluated. Connection between the reviewed paper and my research proposal According to my research proposal, the master thesis topic will be â€Å"Comparative analysis of companies’ dividend policy: international perspective†. Therefore, the literature review on dividend policy has a direct connection to my research proposal. There are several factors that explain this connection. First of all, any master thesis has to start with a literature review of existing studies in the studied area†¦show more content†¦Initially, investors received not only the dividends but also their initial investment each time the ship voyage was successful. Eventually, the initial investment was no longer returned after each voyage. Instead, investors would receive a dividend from their initial investment after each successful voyage. At a certain point, this form of financing business activities transferred onto other business activities. Dividend payout played a very important role which was much greater than the role of capital gains income because investors did not fully trust reports (which were not very reliable at that time) and wanted to avoid risk associated with the uncertainty of share prices. These works are not as important as other works because in my master thesis I am planning to analyze the contemporary situation and not the historical perspective, however they are useful for general knowledge and also some of these information should be placed in the master thesis. 4. Israel s Impact On The Middle East - 1167 Words

Israel: Few Against Many Despite being one of the worlds’ smallest countries, Israel has prevailed in all conflicts since its independence from British rule in 1948. The Illegalization Of Capital Punishment - 1441 Words

Brianna Pulido Ms. Ingram American Literature 14 April, 2015 The Illegalization of Capital Punishment The Death Penalty, also termed capital punishment, is the legal process in which a person is put to death by the federal or state government based on having committed one of 43 capital crimes, such as first-degree murder, espionage or treason. The death penalty is enforced based upon the idea that law abiding members of society will no longer have to worry about convicted criminals being able to carry out even more heinous crimes within their lifetimes. However enforcing the death penalty has also created a huge uproar, as some believe that taking the life of fellow human being is one of the worst, irreversible offenses one can do to another person. These naysayers believe that putting someone to death denies a person his or her basic, human right to life. Capital punishment should therefore be illegal primarily because it infringes upon this basic human right. It should also be illegal because it is an extremely expensive procedure that costs taxpayers a huge amount of money t o maintain. As well, when the death penalty is enforced, the victim is never given a chance for rehabilitation, which is a very unfair way to punish someone. Finally, the death penalty should not be legal because there are race disparities among those who are put to death, which raises questions of equity and overall fairness of its enforcement. Penal Laws Essay

Question: Describe about the Penal Laws and Issue? Answer: Definition: In according with the section 377A of the Singapore Penal code, if any man, in open consign or in confidential performs any activity of coarse licentiousness along with another person of male gender, then both of the individuals shall be penalized in terms of incarceration or imprisonment for a term that might be sentenced upto two years. This meticulous provision of the disquiet statute comprised with the act relating to sexual activity among men that is gay sex. This provision does not applicable to female persons. Acts relating to homosexuality is a crime in accordance with the Singapore penal statute. The scope of this section also contains the acts relating to oral sex. Women are totally excused from this section of the concern statute (Ben-Naim, 2010). Issues: In respect of section 377A of the Penal Code of Singapore a moral question always comes into the mind of the adjudicators that whether the homosexuals in the society should have the right to do sex in private place or not. Some supplementary issues occurs in this regard like the actual value or role of sexual activity in our society, the personal rights of the individuals ought to be interfered or not, is it acceptable for the society that human beings are going against the rule of the nature. These vulnerable issues are not going be solve by restricting ourselves within the territory of legal phenomena (Chan, Wright and Yeo, 2011). From the ethical point of view it may be observed that performing any act for own pleasure by going against the rule of the nature ought not to be the ethical perspective of a human being. But on the other hand it may be an appreciable ethic of a human being that not to make any interference to the personal life of another person (McSherry, Norrie and Bronitt, 2009). From the social perspective it can be originated that a person is at a liberty to do or perform anything without infringing any of the right of any other person of the society. In a nation like USA homosexuality has been legally recognized but in the current social phenomena of Singapore homosexuality has not been adapted yet. The concern provision regulates the sexual orientation of a large number of persons in the society preferring homosexuality. But if the concern section of the statute is not applied to the society then it may change the present scenario of the society (Pieth and Aiolfi, 2004). Arguments for upholding Sec. 377A: The submissions against the section 377A have been rejected by the highest court of Singapore, on the ground that Sec. 377A is a contradictory provision to that of the law of the land that is the Constitution of the country. The Ld. Court of law in its 101 page judgment unambiguously mentioned that sec. 377A does not contravene the provisions of the constitution so it is not unconstitutional, as it does not disobey Art. 9 and Art 12 of the constitution of Singapore (Pieth and Aiolfi, 2004). The Ld. Court focused upon the legal principles and lawfulness of the concern provision. The court of law has avoided those portions of the submission which included the moral and social ethics. The Ld. Court of law held that the concern section is not violating to that of the Art 9 of the constitution as in this article the right of a person relating to life and liberty is mentioned that signifies the right of a person from any illegal internment, it does not mean that a person shall be at a libe rty of personal autonomy (Ginsburg and Moustafa, 2008). The Honorable Court of law also held that the Art 12 of the constitution does not consist within its purview the scope of section 377A, as the said article concerns with the discrimination made depending upon race, religion, and place of birth, that is clearly mentioned in that article and there is nothing specifies in relation to the sexual orientation or gender discrimination. The Ld. Court of law with three adjudicators has observed that section 377A of the Penal code does not infringe any of the provisions laid down in the laws relating to human rights of the country and this provision of penal statute is completely constitutional. Homosexuality is at the present time an escalating hazard for the conventional society of Singapore and it ought not be abided and the ruling should be compassionate to the ethical principles of more persons not the smaller ones, and the edicts are enacted by taking into consideration of the inte rests of the persons. As on 29th October, 2014, section 377A has been declared constitutional and totally valid by the appellate court of Singapore (Miller, 2005). Arguments against upholding sec. 377A: The constitution of the country promotes equality among all the citizens and mentions that there shall be no discrimination among the public. Section 377A makes discrimination among men and women of the same society as this section is applicable only upon the male members of the society. Sec. 377A has been challenged before the court of law for the first time by Tan Eng Hong as he was caught red handed in the course of doing oral sex in a public toilet. After two years of this incident a gay couple namely Kenneth Che and Gary Lim challenged this provision before the court of law. The argument made by them that Art 9 of the constitution ensures the right of a person to life and liberty and Art 12 of the constitution ensures equality before the law and equal protection of law among all the citizens of the country, whilst section 377A not only infringes the right to life and personal liberty of the citizens but it also violates the right to equality before the law as it is promoting sex ual discrimination among the citizen because this section is applicable only upon the men not upon the women of the society. Apart from that section 377A also violates the provisions of human rights, these rights are ensured by various international conventions. Criminalization of a person depending upon the sexual orientation is violating the human rights provided by the UN (Langwith, 2008). References Ben-Naim, A. The best way to do this is to simply give them a question that they can use a variety of answers for. A sample question is often the best way to achieve this, since you're giving them the exact question they need to answer. When writing sample questions, do not forget to ask your students if they can come up with a couple more. Doing so will allow you to keep going over the same issue and make it much easier for them to answer. Once you've been satisfied with the results, move on to giving them essay problems. This way, they won't feel as if they have to sit back and regurgitate a bunch of information just to get the same information from you.Even when students cannot come up with an accurate version of the essay that you want them to write, you should still make sure that they understand the in formation that you have to offer. It's very common for students to change a sentence here and there, but it's important that they are able to recognize the information that you want them to know. When you look at these four tips for making your sample college essay questions work, you'll know what to look for in your own course. Colgan Air and the Planes Landing Issue

Colgan Air and the Planes Landing Issue Weather is an important factor in relation to planes and their orientation in the sky. Colgan Air case and the issue regarding planes landing in the wrong airport relate to several problems. As a Colgan Air pilot not involved in the incident, I can notice that there are several questions that might be raised pertaining to the case.Advertising We will write a custom critical writing sample on Colgan Air and the Planes Landing Issue specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The first one would be regarding the weather conditions at the time of the incident. Often, pilots have very little choice, as the weather conditions become severe in a matter of minutes. It is clear that pilots are very much limited in the number of things they can do to decide on the best course of action, and often, the choice is absent altogether. Sometimes, there are weather conditions that leave pilots with no options. A question regarding the visibility is also appropr iate, as the instruments on the panel board might become not as useful as the visual recognition of the runway. Moreover, it is obvious that pilots have a dangerous employment where only a limited number of steps can be taken to prevent an accident. There is great dependence on the abilities of the plane and weather, and a person has to make quick decisions in directing the machine. Even though a pilot has to go through extensive training and tests, there are still times when a situation cannot be predicted, and a person has to go by the feelings and thoughts that are present at the moment. As such, the condition of the pilot should be questioned. How was he/she feeling prior to the flight, and was he or she affected by any substances? As the Colgan Air president, I would like to note some technical moments that might be put into question. As the design and technology that were used in building and engineering an airport are very complex and structured, they must be differentiated f rom others, so that pilots can see the difference. In this case, it was mentioned that the two airports looked very similar, so the president would ask a question of what could have been done differently to the layout and the design of the airports to allow pilots to see the specifics of their destination airport (Continental Connection Plane Lands at Wrong Louisiana Airport, 2009). There are many details that are important to keep in mind in order to build a well functioning and effective airport, but having unique features would allow pilots quicker recognition. The safety of people on the ground and on the plane is an important matter, and so, the conditions of the surface must be constantly monitored. A president could question ethics and morality in the wrongdoing of landing the plane at the wrong airport. From one perspective, if there is something wrong with the plane and it had to make the landing, it would be unwise to punish the pilots.Advertising Looking for criti cal writing on environmental studies? On the other hand, if the problem is a significant one and all the planes make such a mistake, there must be something wrong with the instructions or the technology used in determining the correct airport. Overall, structural and procedural changes must be made to exclude this form of error. Reference Continental Connection Plane Lands at Wrong Louisiana Airport. (2011). Discrimination Towards Minorities within the United StatsJudicial Research Paper

Discrimination Towards Minorities within the United StatsJudicial System - Research Paper Example This paper will discuss the practice of discrimination towards minorities, discrimination which lead towards unlawful criminal procedures. It shall particularly discuss the civil liberties which are violated due to race and or class status. This paper is being carried out in order to establish a clear and comprehensive picture of the criminal justice system and its actual applications in the United States. Body Discrimination in the application of criminal justice is sometimes apparent in the legal practice, and in most instances, ethnic, racial, or economic considerations are the reasons why such discriminations exist. Various suggestions from different sources seem to point to the presence of racial discrimination in the criminal justice system. In the aftermath of the Rodney King case, an independent commission of the Los Angeles Police Department established that the LAPD used force excessively, and this unnecessary force was largely attributed to the officer’s racial prej udice (Banks, 2004). A review of police officers in the Los Angeles area revealed that about a quarter of them were racists towards the minorities, and that their racial bias has sometimes led to the inappropriate use of force in their arrests and apprehension of these criminals. In assessing radio communications among LAPD police officers, the content of their remarks reflected a significant number of racially discriminatory remarks and attitudes against minorities (Banks, 2004). Witnesses also claim that police officers often tolerated discriminatory actions against minorities; they also claim that these officers often verbally harassed these minorities for as long as they fit their usual suspects – the blacks and the Latin men (Banks, 2004). Police officers who also belonged to the minority ethnic groups were also discriminated against, and they were treated to biased comments and subjected to racial slurs. A report from New York established that there are double standards which are being applied – one for the whites and another one for the minorities and the poor (New York State Judicial Commission on Minorities, 1991). This report was able to establish the presence of biased treatment as well as injustice in the criminal justice system. The report also pointed out that various minorities were subjected to basement justice with their cases being relegated to facilities which were infested with rats and cockroaches (Banks, 2004). These minorities were also disrespected and not given the proper personnel to handle their complaints and court processes. In some instances, the cases involving minorities were often quickly dispensed, with atleast four or five minutes in court (Banks, 2004). This represents an assembly line in the dispensation of justice. Moreover, black defendants were often made to face their fate in the justice system before a purely white jury. This hardly represents the defendant’s peers. In order to establish whether or not racial discrimination is seen in the criminal justice system, various criminal theorists have carried out research assessing the major decision points in the criminal justice system in the US (Wilbanks, 1987). Most of these reports pointed out that even as racial discrimination exists in the criminal system, the system is not wholly defined by racial discrimination; in effect, discrimination is not extensive (Russell, 1998). However, there are

Difference between Systems Design and Systems Improvement Term Paper

Difference between Systems Design and Systems Improvement - Term Paper Example The renaissance paradigm tried to account for the shortcomings of the scholastic paradigm by acknowledging scientific principles (Skyttner, 2006). This paradigm introduced the notion of careful observation of the universe, with inferences and conclusions drawn from observation. This era saw the introduction of scientific methods of considering the factors that affected humankind. For example, Skyttner (2006), states that the emergence of knowledge about astronomy greatly increased understanding of humankind as is now known. The beginning of the 18th century saw the firm establishment of the scientific world view, which was done during the mechanistic paradigm and determinism. In this era, the traditional superstitions were replaced by careful analysis of the factors in the environment, and often, the rational analysis led to scientific conclusions. The overwhelming conclusion from this age was that all factors could be rationally explained, thus the mechanistic tendency. This era was followed by the hegemony of determinism, where it was believed that all factors in the universe followed a supposed pattern. According to Skyttner (2006), this age was characterized by a belief that all events followed a specific pattern, that all factors could be explained by the principle of causality. However, the principle of determinism was disproved by Einstein, who introduced the concept of relativism. Instead of a causality principle, the relativity principle served to disprove the notions of the deterministic era. Finally, the general system theory was introduced in the 1950’s to explain the failure of previous paradigms, where the universe is interconnected by way of different systems. The interaction of these systems cannot be explained by one single factor, thus the introduction of the general systems theory (Skyttner, 2006). In this chapter Skyttner (2006) explains the different factors in the general systems theory, for example, the author defined the system as the collection of different entities that interrelate to give a whole factor.

Assessment Of The German Political System Politics Essay

Assessment Of The German Political System Politics Essay Germanys current form of government democratic federal republic parliamentary system. Federal republic of Germany originated in 1945 but was not the government for all of Germany till it was united in 1990. It comprises of 16 states after the merger of the West and the East government of Germany following constitution GRUNDGESETZ of the West Germany. The president is a only a position to nominate the Chancellor who is the head of the government. In turn the chancellor recommends or dismiss members of the federal cabinet who help him in the governing of the country. The country is divided into sixteen states who are represented by Bundesrat occupying an total number of sixty-nine seats. All constitutional initiatives must first be sent to bundesrat and must pass by 2/3rd votes. The Bundestag is the federal assembly which is directly elected by the citizens which consists of 614 seats. The legal body is the Federal constitutional court which makes the supreme court decisions. Germany political influence over foreign business: Germany while giving a strong global boast to numerous international businesses faces many challenges of overcoming its post-writschaftwunder state and also struggling with high tax rates and unemployment. After the world war the government forced companies to invest in one and other which led to companies too compile a long time planning yielding low profits. Late in 2002 Germanys parliament ended the capital gain and cross holding giving freedom to companies to invest freely. Ever since the countrys growth has been significant to a position of business leader. Germany political risk and expropriation: Germany has stable government with minimum political risk for international business, the corruption level in the country is very low. The policies of the government provide little risk to business expropriation. The judicial system upholds the law and is fair with the foreign business. There seizer of assets and property by the government has not to be feared without a compensation or post-uninfected. Although eminent laws do exist specifically article 14 paragraph 3 of German law which discusses basic rights of property which apply to both individuals and businesses. The law states that expropriation shall only be permissible for the public good and it may only be ordered by or pursuant to a law that determined by establishing an equitable balance between the public interest and the interests of those affected. German laws provide property protection laws and by the European union. The European union treaty allows violation of the laws can be brought to European court of justice. Even though the country has booming business overall its economy is suffering. The main reason being that the small and medium industries are not prospering its people are more of a saver than spending which is the main reason hurting the economy. Later in 2003 France and Germany supported the USA in the campaign against Iraq hoping it would boost the economy. This strategy was based upon the theory of Broken Window fallacy by Henry Hazlitts Economy but it failed. Over all the war brought down the economy. Germany has always been a proud country not allowing other countries to boss them or interfere in their politics after their loss in the world war II they renewed their ideas and moved to a more political and business module allowing them to gain status in trade control and even government sanctioned control over businesses. Assessing the German politics Germany does have companies and business it protects but on the whole it is safe environment for international business and investment. Leading the economy in the European union its political system is open to international business and investors. As in all Germany has low political risk. Germanys legal system Germanys legal structure: Germanys legal structure starts with the constitution known as the basic law which holds two major function it insures the rights of the individuals as well as establishes the bodies of government for the land. The traditional system Germany follows is know as the civil law system, there no precedent set by the judicial rule. The civil law follows a system of codes which consists of five civil, civil procedure, commercial, and criminal procedure these code are further divided into five books which includes the general part, obligations, properties, family, and inheritance. The judicial system has to also obey the laws set up by the European union as it is part of the organization. The courts are divided into three category the ordinary courts, the specialized courts, and the constitutional court the highest court in each category is called federal court. The federal court of justice also know as Bundesgerichtshf is the last court of appeal for a review. The federal constitutional co urt also know as bundesverfassungsgericht only hears matters dealing with constitutional rights. The constitutional court is divided into two divisions dealing with two different halves of the constitution. German laws: German tax law is a very complicated and constantly changing and but Germany has many tax deduction laws which help but it only depends on the companies tax advisors knowledge and loyalty. The tax includes social insurance, a wage tax and a solidarity tax. Ten percent of the writing on taxation is on Germany tax laws. The social tax is equivalent to twenty one percent of the total taxable income which pays for the healthcare and social services. The employer must pay the social tax that matches the amount the employee pays to the government as well. The wage tax is based on the income the personal and it is divided into three ranges. The deduction on these taxes vary and complicated and it mainly helps the rich who are able to meet the requirement. Which is why the government is criticized for its taxation law. Germany has a strong employee biased law and is called Employee protection law. The act requires the employees to be given safe and healthy work environment, limited physical labor. Expecting and nursing mothers are protected by the maternity protection act, and provides fully paid material leave before the due date. The government has strict laws against child labor, those under 15 and older attending full time schooling are prohibited from employment. The hours of work act has a strict requirement of safety and health protection and the average time they are allowed to work a day. But there are no laws on minimum wages instead it is written in the contract. All the employees should be treated equally and discrimination on the basses of sex, cast, religion and color are prohibited by law. Laws on the termination are extensive, there should be a minimum of six to seven months notice before termination. Germany being a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development an organization made up of thirty countries resolving economic, environment and social issues. These countries are striving for a free market economy to bring up the living standards, financial stability, employment and other needs. And in 1997 these countries signed a convention, introducing a law in there judicial system The Act of Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Official in International Business in September of 1998 but it came in action in February 1999. Ever since bribery of foreign public official became a criminal offence before which only domestic bribery was considered an offence. Hence companies who deducted bribes on taxes were cracked down and where punishable by law. Germany has one of the strict laws on market restriction especially when it comes soliciting activities such as telemarketing which can only be carried out if the companies have prior consent. In general German legal system is stable and safe for international businesses to transpire without fear. And it also protect human rights to the fullest and gives freedom to invest globally. Germanys Economic market Germanys economy: During the second world war Germanys inflation ran uncontrolled due to Hitler imposing price controls which lead to an inflation in the economy with some sectors of the economy failing. After the war the country suffered a full economical crisis with the prices of goods frozen and the excess of printed money for the war there was sever shortage of good with food being the most. The economy was reduced to a bartering system. To ascertain there was no threat to the country the government substantially weakened the industrial power which included the shutting down the building of planes, ships and ammunitions which where the driving force of German economy before the war started. The Marshall plan helped Germany in monetary and psychology support however the monetary support of dollar was not enough and with currency Reichsmark worthless, the grate economic miracle or Wirtchafswunder was mainly due to the reform in currency. Many economists in the country addressed the reform in the currency and in 1948 they introduced the Deutsche Mark and along with it they reduced taxes and lifted the price controls. With these reforms Germany in several years had rebuilt its economy and had advanced to become the third largest economy in the world. Even with all this Germany miraculous period it has many natural reasons in deceleration of the economy the main reason being the countries service sector of industries was not as good as the manufacturing sector which overall lowers the competitiveness in the global market. And second being the slow accumulation of capital as the country has reached its peak in production, the third factor being the drop in job market due to the shock and the increase in the oil prices. Due these factors reforms are being made in the laws and the constant growth in the GDP and world demand of German goods remaining firm reforms are to be made to keep the countries output growth. The country has experienced a stage where unemployment had reached a record high due to poor economy and harsh winters causing construction and production to stand still. Each country has an way to calculate there unemployment Germany follows the European foundation for the improvement of living and working condition accordi ng to it the number of people registered as unemployed as a percentage of the total number of people in employment and seeing employment. But presently due to the strong global economy and other factors the unemployment has reduced. Germanys travel and tourism has grown significantly in recent years due to the low prices of visiting and staying in Germany it has become one of the most visited sites in Europe. As of 2003 Germanys service industry has brought 7% of the total GDP. Majority of the tourist are from the US, united kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium, France, and Italy. The German automobile industry has been one of its pride industries. The industry is one of the highest employers of the population. However the automobile industry being the highest income it is considered the lowest environmental friendly as Germany has done little in the development of eco-friendly vehicles. Germany is a promising country for private investors since the reforms in the government which diversified portfolios, tax reforms, maximizing shareholder value and other political changes. The credit system in Germany has similar operations as US and other countries. The banking system in Germany is one of the biggest in the world since the formation of the European union it follows the rules and regulation of the European central bank. From 2001 Germany has replaced its Deuteche mark to Euro. Germanys Social-Culture When someone travels to a new environment even if they do not know their language their body language speaks at lot for them. So it is essential to know the opposite parties culture before you make a mistake. Like some body language in your culture may mean good but in others it may mean bad like how you greet, or how you sit, or how you wave these all have different meaning in different languages. In some countries their culture and their speaking include a lot of hand signals during such time you should be very careful. For example a wave in Germany during a business meeting is not accepted as good while it may mean differently to you, or if it is a birthday a person should not wish him before the date as it is considered bad in Germany. Such small differences may hinder or cause difficulties in your business on the long rum. Even though Germany has reformed its ideas to permit its business culture but their rigid formal and to the point business styles is still the same as the old ways of the national socialism beliefs. Germany has a very unique business culture which they follow even with their wide globalization. Due to these cultures it is a fact that products of a German production under a German manager is said to have a high quality. There companies and managers use quality and responsiveness and dedication to maintain and produce quality goods. All of these are possible because they are good planners and their workers proceed according to the agenda planed for them. Germany has one of the best health care systems in the world and are fare to all its citizens. There insurance options include three government, private and a combination of both and majority being covered by the government. Each of the insurance in available to citizens on the amount of earnings per annum. German is the official language of Germany and Austria, the Hoch Deutsch is the formal German spoken and taught. The language has similarities to English and Dutch languages. Germany since long has had a major problem of racism, the racial violence is one of the major factor in attacks on individuals since the time of Adolf Hitler who was a against Jews but now it ahs taken a new form racism against color and creed . Germanys Technology Germany is one of the most advanced country in the world in technology. Germany has a law called The German Digital Signature Law to enforce high security technical standards. Siemens home and office and the Polyapply are Germanys leading communication devices. these help companies to increase engineering productivity and to meet the world demands. Polymer electronics which are the application of ambient intelligence same as Rf communications have come a long way. Every country may have technology but the cost of for such high technology cannot be owned all countries but Germany has all these and that is why its one of the worlds leading in technology. Even the health care system is to advanced that some are not found in most parts of the world. Conclusion After considering all the factors of the country Germany is one of the best countries in the world for international business. Having a stable political system, the third best economy with strict laws giving equal justice cultural freedom and on of the best technology. Germany having a central geographical position and part of the European market it is considered a center for international businesses. The country is the world leader in exporting goods.
